GoUAV supplies the system as a quotation-led bundle for organisations planning remote drone operations in South Africa and across Africa. From alarm to operator assessment For a security control room, start with the incident workflow: who receives the alarm, who authorises a flight and how the aerial view reaches the operator. Plan the dispatch area, communications and evidence handover before selecting integration work. FlightHub and third-party connections require project-specific validation; they are not automatically included connectors. Recurring routes for mining and infrastructure Define the assets or areas to observe, the repeatable route and the information the team needs after each mission. Account for terrain, site traffic, aircraft reserve and safe return paths. Battery swapping reduces time on the ground between sorties; it does not provide uninterrupted flight or remove the need for weather and safety decisions. A deployment plan, not hardware alone A Dock 4 project needs power, network coverage, an appropriate location, maintenance access and named operational responsibilities. South African operations remain subject to applicable SACAA permissions, including any approval required for BVLOS. Ask GoUAV to scope the hardware, software, installation, integration and enablement requirements separately. Explore security drone solutions · Explore drone asset inspectionPlan the operationFrom a dock location to an accountable remote operation A hardware quotation is only one part of a deployment decision. Use this planning workbook to brief your site team, aviation operator, IT department and control room before committing to a Dock 4 project. The deliverables below are questions to resolve in your project scope, not services or integrations automatically included with the bundle. 1. Define the job and the decision Choose a specific first use case: assessing an alarm zone, checking a perimeter sector or observing a named infrastructure asset. What must the operator be able to see, at what time of day, and what action should follow? Separate an aerial observation from a confirmed security incident or an engineering diagnosis. Planning deliverable: a short mission brief naming the coverage area, observation objective, decision-maker and evidence recipient. Agree how success will be assessed during an authorised trial rather than assuming a brochure flight-time figure is the usable time over your site. 2. Survey the site before selecting the position Who owns the proposed mounting area and who can reach it safely for maintenance? Record surrounding structures, overhead services, vegetation, vehicle movement, public access and possible changes as the site develops. Ask the deployment team to assess the launch and return environment, exposure to weather, drainage and the route for bringing equipment to the location. Planning deliverable: a marked site plan and photographs, with proposed power and network routes, access arrangements and unresolved survey items. Confirm the current DJI installation requirements with the installer; a convenient rooftop is not by itself a validated dock location. 3. Give power and connectivity a named owner Ask IT and facilities to document the available supply, protection, earthing, network path and any proposed backup arrangements. Measure connectivity at the intended dock position, not just at an office desk. Establish who monitors outages and what the operating team must do if power or communications become unreliable. Planning deliverable: an agreed network and power design, an outage-response checklist and a list of software, connectivity and hardware dependencies to verify. Check current manufacturer requirements and the regional package before ordering; do not assume site connectivity or every supporting component is included. 4. Design the control-room handover Map the sequence from an alarm or scheduled task to a flight decision, observation and incident handover. Name the person authorised to approve dispatch, the operator responsible for the flight and the recipient who acts on the result. Decide how an operator records an inconclusive observation, requests assistance and stops a mission. Planning deliverable: a responsibility matrix and a sample incident record. If a VMS, alarm platform or other system must exchange information, list the exact systems, versions, required data and access controls for technical validation. A requested connection is not a confirmed connector, and a video feed is not a complete incident workflow. 5. Agree commissioning evidence before acceptance Who will approve the installation and who will approve operational use? Plan authorised checks for the agreed mission area, the observation quality, return procedures, operator access and the required evidence handover. Include a documented response to loss of connectivity, adverse weather and an unavailable aircraft without deliberately creating unsafe flight conditions. Planning deliverable: an acceptance checklist with a pass criterion, evidence record and responsible sign-off for each item. Keep unresolved items visible. Hardware delivery, installation acceptance and permission to conduct the intended operation are separate milestones; South African operations remain subject to applicable SACAA requirements. 6. Budget for support after the first flight Decide who performs routine checks, who manages software accounts and updates, and how maintenance or a damaged component is escalated. Ask which consumables, spares, software subscriptions and connectivity costs should be budgeted separately. Agree who can attend the site, what information a support request needs and how downtime changes site procedures. Planning deliverable: a maintenance responsibility schedule, support contacts, escalation route and written scope of any proposed service agreement. Request the actual support hours, exclusions and response arrangements in the quotation; do not treat them as included or guaranteed by the hardware purchase. What to send with your project enquiry Include the site location and operating environment; a marked map and photographs of the proposed dock position; the initial mission and observation objective; existing aviation/operator arrangements; the control-room and IT contacts; known power and network constraints; any requested third-party systems; and the intended commissioning date. Keep sensitive site plans and security procedures out of public messages and agree a suitable sharing channel with the project team. Ask for the quotation to distinguish the Dock 4 and Matrice 5TD bundle from supporting hardware, batteries, software, site works, installation, integration validation, operator enablement, commissioning and ongoing support. Confirm which items are included, optional or outside scope, who supplies them and which assumptions still need a site survey. Discuss your deployment scopeExplore drone dock enablement Manufacturer reference: DJI Dock 4 specifications and DJI Dock 4 FAQ. Confirm current regional requirements and the project-specific package before procurement. The complete systemFrom battery swap to actionable information 01 · swapBattery swapping, not a charging pause Dock 4 exchanges the aircraft battery automatically. DJI states a battery swap of under 25 seconds and an operational turnaround of under 45 seconds. These are different timings, not interchangeable promises. 02 · enduranceMore time over the site Matrice 5TD has a stated maximum flight time of 59 minutes. The presentation separately quotes 48 minutes of practical operating time. Actual endurance depends on payload, weather, route and operating reserve. 03 · thermalThermal detail at 1280 × 1024 The thermal camera captures native 1280 × 1024 imagery, with a super-resolution mode up to 2560 × 2048. Super-resolution is processed output, not a larger native detector. PIP and MSX fusion support visual context. 04 · zoomWide, medium and 11× telephoto views Three 50 MP visible-light cameras combine a wide-angle view, a 3× medium telephoto view and an 11× super telephoto view. DJI specifies up to 176× hybrid zoom and a laser rangefinder up to 3 km under its stated test conditions. 05 · nightRYYB telephoto imaging after dark The 11× telephoto camera uses an RYYB sensor for low-light imaging. Near-infrared supplemental illumination supports night viewing. Compare the original demonstration footage rather than assuming performance in every lighting condition. 06 · connectivityO4 connectivity and dual cellular links The O4 Ground Station elevates positioning and transmission above ground-level obstructions. The aircraft includes dual 4G connectivity, with link fusion and supported station roaming. Frequency bands and range depend on the region, installation and operating conditions. 07 · safetyLayered sensing and operating safeguards Six full-colour obstacle-sensing cameras combine with integrated sensing modules. Altitude alerts, supported Remote ID detection and the independent flight termination system add safeguards. Sensing does not guarantee obstacle avoidance or authorise a flight. 08 · accessoriesLight, communication and parachute options DJI names the AL2D spotlight, AS2D speaker and AP1 parachute in its released specification and lists them in the launch presentation. The spotlight adjusts with the lens, and the speaker supports push-to-talk. Accessory selection, legal use and bundle inclusion are confirmed in the quotation. 09 · intelligenceDetection and dispatch in one workflow DJI presents onboard AI target detection alongside FlightHub 2 dispatch, Analyzer Pro, Copilot, annotations and evidence workflows. Feature availability depends on software version, licence, region and deployment. AI detections require operator review. 10 · integrationConnect operations to the control room FlightHub integrations include OpenAPI, Sync, MQTT, event interfaces and SSO. The presentation illustrates VMS, CAD and SCADA connections. These are integration capabilities, not a promise of a preconfigured connector to every third-party platform. 11 · deploymentPlan the complete deployment Assess power, network coverage, O4 placement, site access, take-off and return paths, landing areas, aviation permissions and operator responsibilities before commissioning. IP56 applies to Dock 4 and IP55 to Matrice 5TD. The stated operating range is −40 °C to 50 °C. 12 · roadmapLaunch features are not future firmware The deck marks RC Plus 2 emergency control and Cloud API support for the end-October 2026 firmware roadmap. Vehicle deployment and other capabilities are listed for January 2027. Confirm released firmware and regional support before relying on any roadmap function.Beyond the hardwareTurn a dock into an operating programme A successful deployment needs more than a dock and aircraft.
