Baptisia tinctoria - Yellow Wild Indigo
A herbaceous perennial native to eastern North America, it is rounded, densely branched and anchored by a sturdy taproot. In late spring, masses small terminal racemes of yellow flowers form. It grows best in full sun or light shade in well drained average to dry soil, very frost hardy, it will die back to the ground in winter, but pushes out again in spring.
