SWEDISH 1930S BLACK DOUBLE BREASTED OVERCOAT BY HJELM. SIZE CA EU 50 LONG (US/UK 40 LONG)

DESCRIPTION This elegant black overcoat is of Swedish origin. It was sold new sometime during the 1930s at a menswear shop in Enköping, just outside Stockholm. It is made from a densely woven black wool cloth, very typical of the period. The overcoat is double-breasted and has three rows of buttons, all of which are functional. It has horizontal front pockets with substantial pocket flaps, and there is a buttonhole in each lapel. The back is straight and has a deep vent. There is one button at each cuff. Inside, the overcoat is fully lined with a quilted lining. It is very well made internally and has one inner pocket on each side. The overall condition is very good. On closer inspection, however, a number of minor imperfections become apparent. Some of the buttons have minor damage, and there is also some wear to a few of the buttonholes. There is a small area of damage to the cloth on one sleeve. The hanging loop at the back of the neck has come apart. Inside, the overcoat is in very good condition.
