Miles Davis – Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud – Vinyl LP Immerse yourself in a legendary recording of modal jazz and cinematic history. Recorded during a single late-night session in Paris in December 1957, this historic soundtrack features Miles Davis improvising the score to Louis Malle's classic French film noir Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud (Elevator to the Gallows) while watching scenes from the film. Backed by an exceptional French-American rhythm section, Davis's haunting, atmospheric trumpet playing creates an unforgettable mood of dark romance, tension, and late-night solitude. The music's spacious arrangements, understated intensity, and remarkable sense of atmosphere make this one of the most distinctive recordings of Davis's career. Featuring Jeanne Moreau's iconic portrait on the cover, this vinyl LP edition captures the evocative sound of a landmark jazz soundtrack that anticipated the modal explorations of Davis's celebrated Kind of Blue.
