Mom Hacks In Gaza | Palestinian Mother Art Mug Gift

You've seen a thousand mom hacks. None like hers. Meet Mama Amal Sumud, mother to Salam and Saeed. She's 34, she lives in Gaza, and her name means hope. She lives by one rule: "we don't have it" → "let's make it." Her mom hacks look like this: ☐ bake a birthday cake on a wood fire ☐ make a tent feel like home ☐ pack light, but pack everything ☐ never waste the rinse water ☐ olive oil for everything The rinse water goes to the mint she grows in an old tin can. The tent has a tatreez cushion, a rug, and a family photo in a frame. Her one bag holds the house key, a folded tatreez dress, a photo and Saeed's kite: a whole life, packed light. And on birthdays, there's always a cake. One candle, a wood fire, and two kids clapping like it's the best cake in the world. Basha the cat thinks so too. She doesn't have what she needs. She makes it anyway. The Sumud Family Collection Mama Amal is the fourth of six. Each mug follows one member of the Sumud family through a daily routine you'd recognise, lived the way Gaza lives it. Every family member is named for something they don't have: peace, happiness, hope, safety, life. Their family name, Sumud (صمود), means steadfastness. Everything they're named for was taken. Except their name. The design The mug is hand-illustrated in soft colored pencil and wraps all the way around. It's woven with Palestinian details: a red tatreez-embroidered cushion, olive branches, fresh mint and golden olive oil. Good for - Your morning coffee.
