Mizuho | Shigaraki Rice Bowl Set
Shaped on the rokuro wheel by artisan Hitoshi Minagawa at Tsuchinoko Kiln in Shigaraki, Shiga, each Mizuho rice bowl measures 120 mm wide and 54 mm deep, sized for a generous daily serving. The surface carries no glaze at all. Its color comes solely from anagama yakishime firing, nearly a week inside a pine-fueled wood kiln above 1200°C. Ash settles and fuses into the clay on its own path, so no two bowls from one firing ever look alike. Flame and ash leave streaks of umber, copper and ash-grey across the body, and the unglazed foot stays coarse under the fingers, proof of raw fire meeting Shigaraki clay. Wabi-sabi asymmetry, not factory precision. Serve daily rice here, or let it hold small bites and even ice cream. Microwave safe.
