Rolex Cellini Ref. 3805 White Dial with Original Box in 18k Yellow Gold

The Cellini collection takes its name from Benvenuto Cellini, the celebrated 16th-century Italian Renaissance goldsmith, sculptor and jeweller. The name was chosen deliberately: unlike the Oyster line, Cellini was about precious metals, elegance and traditional watchmaking rather than water resistance and tool-watch functionality. From the beginning, Cellini watches were generally manually wound or quartz, and most featured relatively slim cases without the Oyster case architecture. Gold was particularly important to the collection, with yellow, white and later pink-gold executions becoming its signature. The collection became something of a creative playground for Rolex. During the 1960s and 1970s, the brand produced an extraordinary variety of shapes, including round, oval, rectangular, tonneau and even asymmetrical cases. Some of the most interesting examples featured elaborate bracelets, textured bezels and unusual dial designs. One particularly fascinating chapter is the Cellini Prince, revived by Rolex in the 2000s but inspired by the original Art Deco Prince watches of the 1920s and 1930s. The modern Prince featured a rectangular case and a distinctive movement visible through a large sapphire window on the dial side. This lovely ref. 3805 in 18k yellow gold features a beautiful cushion-shaped case with a snap-back case back, measuring 32 x 28 mm, excluding the lugs. The white dial features black lacquered Roman numerals and elegant, slender stick hands. The watch comes with its original and rather rare Rolex Cellini box. We fitted this bad boy with one of our Bulang & Sons leather straps, paired with a gold-plated Rolex buckle. The watch and its hand-wound movement have been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
