Hacienda La Esmeralda - Lino Anaerobic Natural Gesha, Panama
Some coffees are selected because they are exceptional. Others because they have shaped the way the world understands coffee. Very few are both. We selected the Lino Lot because it comes from Hacienda La Esmeralda, the farm that forever changed the story of Gesha. More than two decades after introducing the variety to the world, the Peterson family continues to define what the very highest level of Panamanian coffee can be. Their pursuit of quality has never stood still, and this lot is a perfect example of that philosophy. Rather than relying on tradition alone, Lino explores how carefully controlled anaerobic fermentation can add depth and texture while preserving everything that makes Gesha so remarkable. The result is not a coffee dominated by process, but one where the character of the variety remains unmistakably clear. It is expressive, elegant and beautifully composed from the first sip to the last. The cup opens with intoxicating florals of jasmine and orange blossom before unfolding into layers of ripe white peach, bergamot and tropical fruit. A silky sweetness carries the coffee effortlessly across the palate, while vibrant citrus acidity provides structure and energy. As the cup cools, delicate tea-like notes emerge alongside remarkable clarity and an exceptionally long, graceful finish. Harvested during the 2026 season from one of the named plots at Cañas Verdes, this Gesha was grown between 1,700 and 1,900 meters above sea level in the volcanic soils of Boquete. Once processed, the coffee was air freighted directly from Panama to our roastery to preserve its freshness and ensure it reaches you exactly as we believe it should be experienced. This is a coffee that reminds us why Hacienda La Esmeralda continues to occupy such a unique place in the coffee world. Not because of its history alone, but because every new harvest continues to justify it.
