Slow down, grab a drink, and discover the timeless art of Sashiko in a relaxed evening workshop at Evil Genius Brewery. Originally developed in 17th-century Japan, Sashiko uses simple running stitches to reinforce and repair well-loved textiles, transforming worn areas into beautiful geometric patterns. Today, it's celebrated as both a mindful handcraft and a creative approach to visible mending—giving old favorites new life instead of sending them to the landfill. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of Sashiko stitching while creating your own sampler on traditional indigo fabric. You're also welcome to bring a denim jacket, jeans, tote bag, or another woven garment you'd like to embellish or mend with your new skills. We'll provide everything you need, including Sashiko thread, needles, templates, and fabric to practice on. Your supplies are yours to take home so you can continue stitching long after the workshop ends. No sewing or embroidery experience required!
