Cute carved horn butterfly brooch dating from the turn of the 20th century, circa 1900. Such pieces, popular from around 1890 to 1915, brought together two distinct artistic movements: Japonesque and Art Nouveau, and the art form is generally credited to Elisabeth Bonté and Georges Pierre. This one has been fashioned after the likeness of a butterfly. It has a pleasing three-dimensionality and gorgeous colour and texture to the wings.
