Persimmon Snow Vase

This handmade flower vase is made by Luo Wei (羅偉) here in Taiwan. It is made with clay from our own Miaoli county, which has a long history with clay and pottery. The vase is finished in a shino glaze, whose milky white surface blushes warm persimmon where the glaze runs thin, which is what inspired its name. Flowers have always accompanied tea, and a vase like this completes a chaxi, inviting a single stem or a small seasonal arrangement to bring Nature into the tea space. Like all of Luo Wei's work, each vase is unique, with slight variations in color and form that are part of its handmade beauty. The vase is approximately 12cm tall and 7cm across at its widest point.
