Joseon Dynasty Buncheong Ware Bottle with Iron-painted

A buncheong ware bottle fired during the Joseon Dynasty. It features a gently swelling body, a slightly elevated rim, and a neck characterized by a decorative raised band encircling it. Iron-painted designs flow fluidly from the inside of the rim, down the neck traversing the decorative raised band and onto the body. The pattern creates the impression of a dragon or snake coiling around the vessel. The exterior is coated with a transparent, ash-blue glaze reminiscent of celadon. True to the nature of *buncheong* ware, the glaze is thin, allowing the textures of the clay and the iron-painted motifs to remain clearly visible. Patches of white visible on the lower body and base are believed to be traces of an applied white slip. The base features a shallow ring foot and bears the marks of refractory stones of varying sizes used during firing. There is no conspicuous flaws.It is in good condition with a moist luster overall.
