Understanding Light: The Foundation
A foundational course dedicated entirely to reading and understanding light. This course breaks down the fundamental behaviour of light, teaching students how to identify its qualities, understand its presence in a space, and make deliberate choices about what light to use, where to position the camera, and when to press the shutter to achieve the best results. Skills Covered Reading the inherent qualities, intensity, and direction of natural and available light. Understanding how light naturally interacts with different surfaces, environments, and subjects. Making critical decisions on exposure and timing based on the available light in any given scenario. What We Provide Studio Environment & Modifiers: Studio space access, basic reflectors, and diffusion tools for observing natural light. What To Bring & Requirements Camera: A digital camera with manual controls. Note-Taking: A notebook for diagramming lighting observations.
