Black Oguni Japanese Cedar Coffee Table

Crafted from premium Japanese Oguni cedar, this coffee table showcases the natural beauty of solid wood. The surface features a traditional Uzukuri texture, where the softer grain is brushed away to create a rich tactile finish, then coated in a deep black paint for a bold, modern appearance. Made from two natural cedar boards without laminated panels, it preserves the live edges to celebrate the tree's original form and strength. Although a burned finish was an option, we chose paint to achieve a deeper black while highlighting the wood's unique texture and grain.
