Turquoise Turtle by Leland Boone and Daphne Quam

A two tone blue turquoise sea turtle with a prominent brown matrix and coral inlaid eyes carved simply by the couple Leland Boone and Daphne Quam. Scuts have been carved simply and minimally on the top of the turtle's shell allowing the different colors in the matrix and turquoise to predominant. For the Zuni, the turtle is a deeply sacred symbol of Mother Earth, representing longevity, tenacity, self-reliance, healing, and water - a precious element in the high desert.
