Prunus serotina A fast-growing native tree valued for its wildlife benefits and graceful form, black cherry produces fragrant white flower clusters in spring followed by small, dark fruits that feed dozens of bird and mammal species. Its vibrant fall color, adaptability, and ecological importance make it an excellent addition to naturalized landscapes, reforestation projects, and large residential properties. While the fruit is edible when ripe, the leaves and twigs should not be consumed by livestock.
