Orange Tip Ricordea Yuma Coral Frag

Orange Tip Ricordea Yuma, Ricordea yuma, is a colorful corallimorph known for its fleshy oral disc and dense covering of rounded vesicles. This WYSIWYG coral frag displays blue-green to teal tissue with vivid orange tips across the raised vesicles, creating strong contrast and a highly fluorescent appearance under reef aquarium lighting. Ricordea yuma contains symbiotic zooxanthellae that provide much of its nutritional needs through photosynthesis, while the coral can also capture small suspended foods. As it matures, a single polyp can enlarge substantially and may reproduce by division or pedal laceration, gradually forming additional polyps. Care Guide: Ricordea yuma generally does best under low to moderate reef lighting with low to moderate, indirect water flow. Strong direct flow should be avoided because it can prevent full expansion or cause the mushroom to detach from its substrate. Place on stable lower to mid-level rockwork with room for expansion. Maintain stable salinity, temperature, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, and phosphate. This species is primarily photosynthetic but may benefit from occasional feeding with very small meaty or planktonic foods. Avoid abrupt increases in lighting intensity and acclimate gradually when moving the coral into brighter areas.
