Fil de Fer suspension pendant light designed in 1999 by Enzo Catellani of Catellani & Smith lighting (est 1989 Italy). The lights are all still made by hand at their cluster of ‘fabrica’ located beside the Serio River in the Lombardy Region of Italy. Discover the brand and history HERE The Designers Inspiration Fil de Fer was originally created as a huge one-off feature light. People were so enchanted by the scattered light Fil de Fer cast in the space, that Catellani & Smith launched their commercially available sizes (including this original 40cm size) in their 2002 Collection. Fabrication Aluminium wire of nickel finish inserted with tiny Eprel light diodes and woven into a sphere. DC Insider Fil de Fer literally means ‘wire’ in French. Installation requires just a flat head screw driver.
