Volcanic Bomb Pair with Olivine / Peridot
A specimen that went on an aerial adventure...this “Volcanic Bomb” literally flew through the air after getting blasted from a volcano! What makes these stones so special are the gorgeous green crystals found inside. This mineral called Olivine (gem name Peridot) forms at some of the hottest temperatures inside our Earth. During explosive volcanic eruptions, this material sometimes gets ejected from the volcano. As it flys through the air, it twists and cools creating some amazing laminations. Once found, these rocks are cut in half to display the incredible crystals inside. This specimen also contains a xenolith of Gabbro. Discovered in the Llémena Valley, Girona Province, Catalonia, N.E. Spain.
