Octavia | Scorpio Medallion

Inspired by the Zodiac Mohurs commissioned by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in the early 17th century, the Octavia Zodiac Medallion draws on a remarkable moment when the twelve signs of the zodiac appeared on imperial gold coins. Representing the water signs of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio, each zodiac is hand-carved in reverse into natural lapis lazuli by an expert stone carver, preserving the centuries-old craft of intaglio. When pressed into wax, the carving leaves a positive impression of the zodiac, revealing the image as it was intended to be seen. The lapis is held within an octagonal bezel of matte 18k yellow gold. The Gold version is left unadorned, allowing the carving and material to take focus, while the Pavé Diamond version is surrounded by 1.66 carats of round brilliant-cut natural diamonds. On the reverse, Nue’s signature hourglass motifs represent the passage of time—a recurring symbol in our work.
