It blooms profusely in spring and may bloom sporadically throughout the season. It is a tough, drought tolerant plant for hot, dry spots. Gregg's Dalea grows in rocky or sandy soils that drain well, and it tolerates alkaline soils. It does not like standing water or clay soil. It grows quickly and blooms within its first year.
