False map turtle

This turtle has a shell with low ridges and a toothed rear edge. The plastron color ranges from cream to yellow with dark patterns along the seams, especially in younger individuals. The body is greenish-brown to black with light brown, yellow, or off-white stripes. Eyes vary in shades of brown, yellow, white, or green with a dark reticulation. Males are typically 9 to 15 cm long, while females are 12 to 27 cm. Adult males are generally 1.5 to 1.74 times larger than females and have longer tails.
