The name itself echoes that rhythm, Manjira being the small hand cymbals used in devotional and classical music, their chime as lively and textured as this saree's border. Running along the saree is a vibrant Kantha-embroidered border, hand-stitched in a mix of ochre, green, red, and black threads into rows of tiny triangles, diamonds, and running stitches — a technique traditionally used to layer old cloth into new, here reimagined as pure ornamentation. The contrast between the soft, unstructured Shibori body and the dense, disciplined embroidery of the border gives Manjira a striking push-and-pull between the organic and the deliberate.
