October 9, 1939 New York Daily News Original Complete Newspaper Up for auction is an edition of the October 9, 1939 New York Daily News. This paper covers the New York Yankees 1939 World Series win which was their 4th straight World Series win. This paper was released the day after the Yankees won the 1939 World Series over the Cincinnati Reds. The paper is complete and has multiple pages covering the game and the historic win. This is the only copy of the Daily News I have ever seen from this win. This is an original complete newspaper. The paper is in decent but fragile condition. The spine and top of some pages have been reinforced with archival tape and there is some chipping to some pages. The top of the front cover has been folded over (the cover on the back is what shows the Yankees win which is typical with The Daily News covering sports). It is a fragile 80+ year old paper that needs to be handled with care. With that being said, the condition really is secondary to the historic importance and rareness of this issue.
