Overview Create a sealed heating-cable entry closer to the area that freezes. This kit combines a CSA-certified self-regulating in-pipe heating cable with a Cable Entry Gland. It creates a sealed cable-entry point through a compatible pipe wall, cleanout cap, tank wall, or flat surface so the heating cable can be routed inside. Low-Static-Head Use For compatible low-static-head pipes, tanks, drains, and containment applications. Round Pipe Entry Direct pipe-wall entry requires a round pipe at least 2 in in diameter and a compatible curved washer fit. 3 Entry Options Round pipe wall, cleanout cap, or tank and flat-surface entry. CSA-Certified Cable Compatible self-regulating in-pipe heating cable is included. Before Ordering Your application is low-static-head The mounting surface is smooth, rigid, and structurally sound Wall thickness is approx. 1/8–1 in / 3–25.4 mm There is enough internal clearance for the retaining plate The heating cable can reach the freeze-prone section The supplied washer matches the planned mounting surface Round pipe fit: The supplied curved washers are identified for 2 in and 3–4 in round pipe applications. The pipe-wall entry requires at least a 2 in round pipe. Confirm washer fit before drilling. What’s Included Included Selected in-pipe heating cable, complete Cable Entry Gland assembly, curved and flat washers, 25 mm / approx. 1 in hole saw, temporary closure plug, installation manual, and spare mounting parts. Sold Separately Pipe or tank insulation and an external thermostat or temperature controller are not included. Not for pressurized plumbing. Do not install the Cable Entry Gland on municipal water pressure lines, pressurized household plumbing, pressure vessels, gas piping, fuel tanks, or high-pressure equipment. Sump pump discharge lines: This kit can be used where the installation remains within the product's low-static-head application limits. Do not treat the Cable Entry Gland as a pressure-rated plumbing fitting. Self-regulating does not mean automatic shutoff. Heat output changes with temperature, but the cable remains energized while connected to power. Add a compatible external thermostat when automatic temperature-based on/off control is needed. Installation Before Installation Confirm low-static-head application Confirm mounting wall thickness Confirm washer and surface fit Check internal retaining-plate clearance Measure the required cable route Inspect the heating cable jacket Basic Installation Sequence Choose the entry location. Select a smooth, rigid area with enough sealing surface around the hole. Drill the entry hole. Use the included 25 mm / approx. 1 in Hole Saw (J). Keep the drill as perpendicular to the surface as possible. Deburr the hole. Remove sharp edges, plastic debris, and metal shavings from both sides. Select the washer. Use Curved Rubber Washer (B) for a compatible round pipe. Use Flat Rubber Washer (B') for cleanout caps, tank walls, and flat surfaces. Insert the A-D-E Assembly. Insert the pre-assembled flange base, screw, and retaining plate through the entry hole. Secure the retaining plate. Use two screwdrivers. One stabilizes the Crescent Retaining Plate (E) while the other tightens the mounting screw. Install the second screw and alternately tighten both. Install the outlet fitting. Seat Flange Sealing Gasket (C), then install Flange Cable Outlet Fitting (F). Prepare the cable. Slide Compression Nut (G) and Fitting Gasket (H) onto the cable before routing it through the entry assembly. Route the heating cable. Feed it slowly toward the intended freeze-prone section. Complete the cable seal. Install Silicone Sealing Plug (I), position H, and hand-tighten G until properly seated. Leak-check before power. Inspect the mounting flange and cable entry for moisture or leakage before energizing the heating cable. Never completely remove both mounting screws at the same time. Keep at least one screw partially engaged with the Crescent Retaining Plate (E) so the plate cannot fall inside the pipe, tank, or containment structure. Long Pipe Runs Use a Pulling Line When Needed If the cable cannot be positioned by hand, feed fish tape or a strong pulling line from the far end toward the cable-entry location. Attach it to the heating cable and pull slowly while guiding the cable. Do Not Damage the Cable Do not use sharp wire, sharp hooks, or tools that can cut, scrape, puncture, crush, or heavily kink the heating cable jacket. Do not force the cable through resistance. Final check: Keep all gaskets correctly seated and do not overtighten plastic components. Check the completed installation for leakage before connecting power. FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Can I use this kit on a sump pump discharge line? Yes, when the selected installation remains within the product's low-static-head application limits. The Cable Entry Gland can create a cable-entry point closer to the freeze-prone section of the discharge line. It is not a pressure-rated plumbing fitting. Can I install it directly through a round pipe wall? Yes. Direct pipe-wall entry requires a round pipe at least 2 in in diameter. The supplied curved washers are identified for 2 in and 3–4 in round pipe applications. Confirm washer fit, wall thickness, surface condition, and internal clearance before drilling. Can I install it through a cleanout cap or tank wall? Yes. Use the Flat Rubber Washer on a suitable cleanout cap, tank wall, inspection port, or other smooth flat surface. The mounting area must be rigid, structurally sound, and capable of supporting gasket compression. Can this kit be used on a pressurized household water line? No. The Cable Entry Gland is intended for low-static-head applications only. Do not use it on municipal water pressure lines, pressurized household plumbing, pressure vessels, gas piping, fuel tanks, or high-pressure equipment. Is the included heating cable CSA certified? Yes. The self-regulating in-pipe heating cable supplied with this kit is CSA certified. Is the hole saw included? Yes.
