Large Antique Peach and Brown Persian Haji Jalili Tabriz Rug, 1920s / 9'7 x 12'6 Rug #4663

Spacious, grand, and full of graceful movement. This circa 1920s Haji Jalili Tabriz measures 9'7" x 12'6", with a warm pink-peach ground framed by cocoa brown, ivory, and touches of ever so muted mint as well as little bursts of ruby. The art on this Persian has a wonderful presence with a sense of openness, while delivering intricate and detailed work. It showcases slender vines that curl outward, blossoms turning along their stems, and scalloped edges around the central medallion. The generous space between motifs lets each little curve breathe. The contrast is wonderful too, with a richly detailed medallion and floral borders surrounding that quieter, soft peach field. Depending on how the wool catches the light, the palette moves from pale blush and cream to warmer apricot and deeper chocolate brown. Finely handwoven with a tight weave, low pile, and scattered wear that brings its century of history to the surface. This Persian comes from a very respected region of skilled weavers. Durable and ready to live with, this is a substantial piece of art with a soft presence and one that can give a whole room its warmth. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Rug Rundown… the wool…the weave…the wear Size: 9'7" x 12'6" Material: Vegetable dyed wool Construction: Hand knotted Origin: Persia Age: Circa 1920s Design: Open peach-pink field with floral medallion, slender vines, and scalloped edges.
