Forest Hill Vineyard Small Batch rosé 2026
I liked the previous vintage of this wine, which is a blend of grenache, cinsault, counoise and vermentino, but I think this one from the exceptional '26 vintage is even better. It was simply hand-picked and then pressed to concrete, where it was fermented. The combination works really well. There's a certain graininess that gives it texture, even though it's quite light-bodied. The colour has a slightly copper-toned character. Tremendous red-fruit intensity with a slightly savoury element and a sort of chalky, talcy character as well. There's a zingy line of acidity, and it sustains through to an exceptionally long finish. High-class rosé in the modern vein.
