Visual Comfort Petaluma Pendant

The Visual Comfort Petaluma Pendant, designed by Barbara Barry, is a vertical, multi-tiered ceiling pendant that combines sculptural form with decorative illumination. Its elongated profile and botanical motif make it particularly suited to high-ceiling spaces such as stairwells and entrance halls. The design arranges clusters of translucent, petal-like shades along a slender central rod to create a sense of movement and architectural presence. The Petaluma is offered in Soft Lacquered Brass and Soft Silver finishes to suit contemporary interior palettes.Structurally the fitting uses metal for the canopy, rod and hardware, finished in a warm gold tone on some variants, with a circular ceiling canopy and thin cable suspension. The shades are translucent with a frosted white appearance and are likely formed from glass or a high-quality resin.Light sources are integrated within each petal cluster to deliver soft, diffused ambient light; individual petals are oriented both upwards and downwards to spread illumination evenly and reduce harsh shadow. The overall effect is a warm, balanced atmosphere appropriate for decorative ambient layers. The pendant hangs from a circular ceiling canopy and the suspension cable permits height adjustment during installation. The fitting has an IP22 rating and is specified for indoor, dry zones; check product detail pages or contact us for dimming compatibility and serviceability information. At Lighting Design Online we recommend the Petaluma when you want a considered decorative centrepiece that reads as architecture as well as light. Our guidance focuses on the right outcome for the space — clear specification, reassurance on material quality and project-friendly advice to integrate the pendant into stairwells, double-height halls and entrance spaces.
