Nero Portoro

Nero Portoro is a historic Italian marble traditionally quarried around Portovenere and the nearby islands of Palmaria and Tino. Used since Roman times and prized throughout Europe, its extraordinary combination of black and gold has made it a celebrated choice for fireplaces and fine architectural interiors. A pitch-black background is crossed by dramatic gold and amber veining with occasional passages of white. The pattern varies naturally from block to block and gives each piece an unmistakable identity. On a fireplace mantel, Nero Portoro creates a glamorous statement with exceptional depth and richness. Nero Portoro can be sourced for any Marmoso mantel, along with a wide range of other custom marbles and limestones to suit your vision.
