I re-render famous paintings, substituting unpainted wooden substrate for bodies, to represent the erasure of their lived experiences from recorded history. I tell many stories of the sitters in famous paintings. I am also the creator of The Matilda Effect Series which seeks to amplify and preserve history from the female identifying perspective, to forefront the achievements of women astronomers, scientists, inventors, creators, leaders and resisters, painted on pertinent household objects to draw attention to their groundbreaking works outside of domesticity while they are written out of history, or their achievements credited to the nearest male. Solo shows involve a museum installation with drôle docent performances acted and written by John Serembe, and Kate Ayers, with performances by actors from Theatre Artists Olympia.
