An original icon of St.Joan of Arc from our May Prayer Card Club! St.Joan is shown carrying a banner rather than a weapon, recalling the one she brought to battle, marked with the fleur-de-lis (representing the Trinity and the French monarchy) as well as the names of Jesus and Mary. The flag becomes a sign that her authority was never her own-she went to war for Christ, as one of His soldiers. And in place of a sword, she holds a cross in her hand, reminding us of her martyrdom at the age of 19 and the true shape of her victory.
