2026 Guafengzhai Liehushan

One garden that we left out of our Guafengzhai tasting set last year was a lesser known area commonly known in the market as Liehushan. Over the past 5 years or so it has become a little more popular but the environment and ancient trees are still excellent and haven't been stressed. The garden is on a super steep slope in the middle of virgin jungle and has three groups of trees managed and harvested by several families from Guafengzhai. The tea is concentrated, with good strength and vibrant character. We're very happy with this tea note: Due to a mistake at the pressing factory some of this tea wasn't sorted completely for yellow leaves and there may be a few yellow leaves in the cake. While this wouldn't be perfect for us from a visual point of view, there's nothing we can do at this point. The price reflects this and the tea is nevertheless excellent to drink.
