SP Processing 3 Flying Back Hair Crew (VERMONT)
[DESIGN] The "3 Fly Fleece Series" is produced using old-fashioned knitting machines in order to recreate the unique texture found in vintage sweatshirts. The material is made from thick 14 count cotton thread, giving the series a heavier appearance than traditional Remi Relief sweatshirts, but making it surprisingly light to wear. "Three-loop fleece" is a technique in which several loops of the back yarn are skipped to create a loose knit. This technique makes the fabric sturdy yet soft enough to stretch and move with the body. In addition, the skip stitches in the knitting create a structure that traps air, giving the fabric thickness and a fluffy texture. At the same time, the weight of the fabric itself has been reduced, making it light enough to wear for long periods of time without getting tired. This is a carefully crafted sweatshirt that combines classic design and functionality, with a vintage feel while also providing a comfortable fit that matches modern lifestyles. [DESIGN] This new sweatshirt from Remi Relief is made using an old knitting machine and thick No. 14 cotton thread to recreate the triple-fleece fleece seen in vintage sweatshirts. This series has a heavier appearance than traditional Remi Relief sweatshirts, but is also lightweight. [PROCESSING] What is SP processing (special processing)? Sweatshirts from the 1930s to the late 1960s were primarily dyed with direct and sulfur dyes. The mechanism by which old clothes fade is thought to be that oxygen in the air forms an oxidative bond with the amino acids that hold the dye together, causing hydrolysis, which turns them into carbon and decays. REMI RELIEF's SP processing replicates this natural principle, using traditional direct dyes that are then combined with oxygen to fade the dye slowly over a long period of time. While the garment will still be damaged, unlike processes that involve chemicals or bio-based methods that forcibly dissolve the fabric, this natural processing creates the closest appearance to the damage that occurs naturally over time in vintage clothing, making it indistinguishable from real vintage clothing the more you wear it. [MATERIAL] 100% COTTON The yarn used for the fleece is made from organic cotton "waste" grown at Alvarez Farm in New Mexico, USA. The yarn is characterized by its firmness and tension, and is knitted at the very tightest gauge to create a very stiff fleece. The unbrushed fleece makes it easy to use all year round.
