A Eri silk Dupatta / wrap from our looms in Assam , India The Dupatta / wrap has eri silk yarns in the warp and weft and all interwoven motifs in tassar silk and eri silk . The yarns have been natural dyed . Since Eri Silk is there, the wrap / dupatta does not have the typical sheen that is associated with Silks from India. Both Muga Silk and Eri Silk are indigenous Silk varieties from India found in Assam and some other North Eastern States. The lack of sheen and slight coarseness/ dryness is typical of Eri Silks. The Eri silk yarns used here are mill spun very fine yarns . Hence , it is very soft and has a soft lustrous sheen . It has a very graceful fall. Eri Silk is easier to take care of than other more delicate silks like Mulberry Silks. The production of Eri Silk is still majorly an indigenous activity of the tribal people of the region.
