A beautiful and sentimental antique Georgian era (1714-1836) mourning ring in buttery 18ct yellow gold. The ring bears the words 'Thomas Hughes, died 18 Apr 1805 aged 21' in gold lettering around its circumference, to a black enamel background with a white enamel border. Stamped for London, 1804. Maker's mark 'MG', possibly for Matthew Govett. Size N ½ (US 7.25). Cannot be resized. Weight (approximate): 4.4g Measurements (approximate): Ring measures 7mm wide. Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. There are losses to the enamel; the black areas have minor losses, while the white areas show heavier losses.
