Myeoh - Minhwa
Inspired by a detail from the original wallcovering created for Young Huh’s home, Myeoh pairs a hand-painted cat with a printed geometric border drawn from Korean decorative arts. The cat’s wistful expression lends the piece a gentle humour, while its subject carries deeper cultural significance: during Korea’s Joseon Dynasty, cat paintings were cherished symbols of longevity and good fortune. Reimagined as a standalone artwork, Myeoh captures the wit, allegory, and rich narrative tradition at the heart of Minhwa. Framed in stained, oiled and waxed Oak.
