Original Painting: "Under His Light, Into His Rest"

"Under His Light, Into His Rest" is two paintings of two times in one story of a family living life full of adventure, and then safely going up high and safe to rest at night, with the fireflies dancing endlessly under the moonlight. One image is seen in the light, and the other is seen after all lights go out. It is two images in one. In the light, you see the image of a family of 4 centrally located in the lower portion of the canvas, a father and mother peacefully sitting by a campfire, and their son and daughter running and playing. Surrounding them are a host of fireflies. In the mid-ground high in a tree, up on stilts, is their treehouse for their family vacation, speaking of their desire to experience all the adventure God has in store for them. I am a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. I want my work to speak to the love of Christ and His plan for our lives. When the lights are turned off, there is a second image, painted on top of the visible image in invisible glow-in-the-dark paint. Many coats of glow in the dark paint were layered on top of oneanother to become very bright. At night the sun is no longer visible, but high in the sky glows the moon and stars. The windows of the treehouse glow equally bright as the family has gone up to the safety of their restful night sleep. I have learned that the glow in the dark paint can be charged by normal lights around the house and UV flashlights, but a few moments in the sun supercharge the glow-in-the-dark paint for an instant mighty glow. This painting is my 5th painting in my Fantastical Treehouse series. This work of art is a 24" wide by 30" tall acrylic and glow in the dark painting on gallery depth canvas. Under His Light, Into His Rest - A Poem "The day folds gently toward evening's rest, and gold light lingers upon laughing faces. A fire crackles. The pine trees listen. The sky paints one last masterpiece before the sun slips beyond the hills. Here, gathered close, is a treasure greater than any map could promise. A father. A mother. Children whose smiles shine brighter than the embers dancing at their feet. No king has owned a richer kingdom than the family seated around this fire. No castle wall has sheltered hearts more fully than love shared beneath an open sky. The world is wide and full of wonders, yet some of life's greatest adventures begin beside those we hold dear. Perhaps tomorrow there will be trails to follow, streams to cross, forts to build, or distant clouds that resemble ships sailing toward lands yet unnamed. Perhaps there will be secret passwords, imaginary dragons, and stories told beneath blankets long after bedtime. For wonder has never belonged only to children. It waits patiently for families willing to believe that ordinary moments are wrapped in holy gifts. And every blessing, whether grand or small, arrives from the hand of God. The warmth of the fire. The song of the crickets. The people seated beside us. Even this very breath. As darkness settles softly across the earth, the stars awaken one by one, like lanterns lit by heaven itself. The fire grows quiet. The night grows deep. Yet there is no fear. For love is stronger than the dark. And somewhere above the sleeping forest, nestled among sturdy branches, a treehouse waits. A small refuge suspended between earth and sky. Up the stairs they climb, one by one, carrying laughter, stories, and sleepy eyes. The moon watches over them. Hundreds of fireflies drift through the darkness, tiny living stars floating through the summer night. The tree sways its ancient lullaby. The world feels vast. The family feels safe. And while dreams carry them toward distant adventures, they rest secure beneath the care of the One who never sleeps. Tomorrow will bring new wonders. Tonight brings peace. And in the quiet glow of moonlight, surrounded by love, they discover that the greatest adventure was never finding some faraway place. It was finding home in one another, and giving thanks for every beautiful blessing along the way."
