Swan Tassel Penny

On the heads side, a graceful swan glides across still water. Throughout history, the swan has symbolized beauty and fidelity. They can also represent transformation, in stories like the Ugly Duckling. Though the swan appears to move effortlessly across the surface, it reminds us that what is beautiful is often supported by unseen work beneath the water. On the tails side is a pair of tassels bearing the inscription, Adorn Thy Days. Tassels have long embellished the objects we treasure most. They adorn books, garments, curtains, ceremonial regalia, and the small heirlooms that accompany us through life. They serve no practical purpose, and yet they make the ordinary more beautiful.
