It may be safe to say that nearly all BMW Airheads will benefit from the addition of a high-efficiency starter motor. Compared to a new Bosch equivalent, the EnDuraLast Starters can produce from 70-140% more torque with 20% less amperage draw on the battery. That means faster starts and more starts before you have to worry about excessive battery drain. Key Features: This starter is made specifically for small batteries. Modern technology allows for a lighter (6.5 pounds) starter motor with 70 % higher output than the old Bosch design. Replaces the standard field coils with permanent magnets that require less amperage to run the starter making more battery power available to the ignition system during start-up. Will work in situations where large Denso style starters requiring large batteries will not. Includes a low-voltage solenoid "pull-in" requirement. The permanent magnet starter can be used to retrofit older Bosch field coil starters (0.7 Kw). This starter is made specifically for small batteries. Spring clips ensure internal magnet retention. This aftermarket starter is a high-quality product that meets or exceeds OEM specifications. The EnDuraLast warranty is for 24 months, with the returned device being repaired or replaced by EME Fitment Chart: MODEL YEAR RING GEAR OEM ORIGINAL PART NUMBER KILOWATT TORQUE RATING PINION DRIVE GEAR EME PART NUMBER MAKE/MODEL 1970-1976 93 TEETH BOSCH 0 001 157 005 0 001 157 015 0.5 0.6 8 TOOTH BMW-STR1M BMW R50, R60, R75, R90 1977-1987 1988-1995 111 TEETH VALEO 0 001 157 023 D6RA7 0.7 1.2 9 TOOTH BMW-STR1 BMW: R45, R65, R75, R80, R100 & Others POWER RATING 1.2 Kw cranking torque @ 270 amps
