The two filler tobaccos were grown as pilot test crops in the 2022/2023 growing season, and because of the limited amount that was grown, there was only enough to make about 3,500 cigars. “It is a liga I have been wanting to do for a very long time, I have always wanted to make an “elegant” CT Broadleaf cigar,” said Saka, in a post on his Facebook page. “That is such an oxymoron and a tremendous personal challenge, because broadleaf inherently lends itself to making stronger, more rustic, meatier style ligas, just in the same way Cameroon capa lends itself to being crafted into milder, gentle spiced cigars.” Saka also confirmed that more of the filler tobaccos has been planted since the original batch and that he expects to be able to release more Word of Saka cigars in the future. This sampler also includes another shipment of the Todos Las Días Thick Lonsdale “Mas Fuerte”, which was introduced in 2018 as a limited edition and returned in 2023. The cigar is a modified version of the Todos Las Días blend, one that was created somewhat by mistake. “When originally blending the Todos Las Dias liga there were two finished core blends comprised of the same tobaccos, but with different proportions,” said Saka in a press release in 2018. “Ultimately, I selected the one I felt worked best in the original formats to be released and relegated the other to my blending diary. When it came time to add the Thick Lonsdale to the line, I inadvertently gave them the recipe for the stronger iteration. In their defense, the factory asked me to verify the blend twice, but I managed to still muck it up and authorized them to produce 200 boxes as instructed. I didn’t actually realize my mistake until I was smoking the post production cigars for quality control purposes. Right away I knew something was askew.” In 2023, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust released 12,000 more Todos Las Días Thick Lonsdale “Mas Fuerte” cigars as part of its Archived Series, which sees the company re-release cigars that have been otherwise discontinued.
