At ISO VG 3200, this product is specifically engineered for applications where extremely high viscosity is required to maintain adequate EHL film thickness at very slow shaft speeds and very high loads — including railroad DC traction motor drives, certain open gear applications such as oiling pinions or specially designed circulation systems, and any industrial enclosed gear application where the OEM specifies ISO VG 3200. FZG Stage 13+ and four-ball weld load 250 kgf confirm outstanding EP and anti-wear performance even in boundary-regime conditions. Product Overview Mobil SHC™ Gear 3200 is a supreme performance heavy-duty synthetic gear oil designed for all kinds of enclosed steel-on-steel gear drives as well as plain and rolling element bearings — particularly where very high viscosity grades are required for slow-speed, high-load and high-temperature applications. Formulated from synthetic base fluids with exceptional oxidation and thermal properties and excellent low-temperature fluidity. The combination of a naturally high viscosity index (165) and a unique additive system provides outstanding performance under severe high and low temperature operating conditions. The synthetic base stocks have inherently low traction properties that result in low fluid friction in the load zone — helping to produce lower operating temperatures and improved gear efficiency versus mineral oils of comparable viscosity. Application note: While compatible with mineral oil based products, admixture may detract from performance. Systems should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed when replacing a mineral product to achieve maximum performance benefits. High Viscosity Index — 165 VI 165 provides trouble-free operation over a wide temperature range — particularly at extremely low temperatures where conventional very high viscosity mineral products become unworkably stiff and cannot circulate to the lubrication points. Low Traction — Improved Gear Efficiency Synthetic base stocks have inherently low traction properties — resulting in low fluid friction in the load zone of gears and rolling element bearings. Can help improve gear efficiency and lower operating temperatures, leading to lower operating costs versus mineral oils of equivalent viscosity grade. Outstanding Thermal & Oxidation Resistance Exceptional thermal and oxidative stability helps reduce lubricant consumption and change-out frequency — reducing product and change-out costs in enclosed gear drives where oil changes require significant downtime and maintenance labour. Light Colour — Easy Inspection Light colour helps avoid the need for gear cleaning prior to inspections — reducing maintenance costs and simplifying gear condition monitoring versus dark mineral oils or asphaltic products that obscure gear tooth surfaces.
