Dream Pen Zogan Swan - Urushi Black
The Swan - Urushi Black A lone swan drifting slowly across the still waters of a lake in the cover of darkness. It is this ethereal, once-in-a-lifetime vision which inspired the creation of the Zogan Swan - Urushi Black Fountain Pen. The Dream Pen is coated with black Urushi, making it appear as if the mother-of-pearl Swan is floating above the midnight waters. The contrast between the black Urushi and the irisidescence of the mother-of-pearl inlay evokes the quiet serenity of a moonless night. As light dances across the shell, the swan reveals subtle hues of silver, blue, and green, bringing the artwork to life from every angle. Every pen is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, requiring countless hours of careful inlay work and repeated applications of natural Urushi lacquer. Zogan Inlay This pen is handcrafted by the Urushi Artisans in Japan, before finally finished with the mother-of-pearl inlay by the Zogan experts. Each fountain pen is a labor of love and patience, as working with delicate mother-of-pearl and Urushi requires a great deal of skill. Zogan is an Inlay Crafting technique that has existed in Japan for over a thousand years, and while it is not limited to mother-of-pearl (Raden), many Zogan artisans prefer to use this radiant material as a testament to their skill. The art of applying one material onto the surface of an object has its own challenges, but what sets Zogan apart is that the design - in this case, the swan - must be carved onto the surface first before inlaying the bright white mother-of-pearl shells. When combined with Urushi (Japanese lacquer), the radiance of the Zogan artwork achieves an ethereal glow that is almost impossible to match. Product Care Since the inlay material, mother-of-pearl is delicate, please avoid dropping the pen or applying pressure to the product. Use a gentle cloth and wipe the surface delicately if needed. For the Urushi color, we highly recommend avoiding long direct sun exposure to the pen as it will over time alter the color.
