September School Holidays Workshops for Teens

Welcome to For Your Mind Workshops for ages 12-18 September school holidays workshop! This workshop offers a creative space where participants can explore their emotions, express themselves, and promote well-being through various artistic mediums. Through a supportive and non-judgmental environment, participants engage in guided art projects that enhance self-awareness, reduce stress, and foster relaxation. Whether you're an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop has something for you! LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent friendly. About the facilitators: Hosted by Kimmi who identifies as part of the queer and neurodivergent communities and has a diagnosed mental illness Kimmi (she/her/they/them) is a co-owner of For Your Mind Boxes and has long desired to host group workshops. After successfully leading a workshop for Headspace in 2022, she is eager to grow the business and organise more events like this. With a deep passion for mental health and wellbeing, Kim is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for the community. Class Information We want to trial workshops for teenagers after many requests for them. If you have a teen who loves to create and would like to do thag in an inclusive environment, this is the workshop for them! We will run 2 workshops on a Tuesday for teenagers aged between 12 to 18 years old. Morning sessions are from 10am to 12pm and afternoon sessions are from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. This is a tester program that will continue during school terms if we get enough interest. Location - Suite 2, 62 Little Malop Street, Geelong. Public transport - Geelong Train Station is a close walk away, as well as the bus interchange in the CBD of Geelong. The dates and art activities are as follows: Week 1 Morning Session (Tuesday 22nd Sep) - DIY Fidget Tools Week 1 Afternoon Session (Tuesday 22nd Sep) - Affirmation Station Week 2 Morning Session (Tuesday 29th Sep) - Clay Paintings Week 2 Afternoon Session (Tuesday 29th Sep) - DIY Fidget Tools. If you are bringing a support worker or carer, please notify us so we can accommodate! NDIS Participants can use their funding if they are Plan or Self-Managed and community based programs are part of their goals. FAQ How much is it? $35 and includes all materials What ages are these for? We recommend high school aged or 12-18 years old for these sessions. Where do I book? You can book here on this page. What do I need to bring? Just yourself! All materials are supplied and we have a Sensory area filled with fidget and sensory tools. You are welcome to bring your own fidgets and sensory tools. Tea, water and coffee available. Do I need experience? Absolutely not, it is a fun art class for self-expression and meeting like minded people. Leave perfectionism at the door and come and have fun in an inclusive space! Where is it? Suite 2, 62 Little Malop Street, Geelong. Down from Hello World, in Downes Lane. How do I get there? There is plenty of street parking available, parking complex and Geelong station and bus interchange is nearby. Do I have to do every class? For school holidays, no you do not. If you are unable to make a class, you can transfer your spot to someone else. Can I use NDIS? Absolutely, if you are plan or self managed! It will come under a community participation code or a code of your preference. Just let us know what line item to use. To book under NDIS, please email ndis@foryourmindboxes.com.au and we will assist. Can I bring a carer or companion? Of course, please just let us know you are so we have the right numbers and space available. I can't make it anymore, what is your refund policy? Bookings can be refunded (minus a 15% admin fee) 48 BEFORE the class. After 48 hours, we cannot refund the FULL fee. We apologise for the inconvenience.
