Golden Stag

Where do the antlers end and the jewelry begin? On this stag, there's no clean answer — chains, medallions, and gem drops hang from every tine. Beneath that hung crown, the sitter of this deer paint by numbers kit gazes out past a golden disc, a ruby-set collar at its throat and a mosaic robe over its shoulders. The dangling ornaments are the closest attention on the canvas: each chain link, spiral disc, and red or green stone drawn separately against the dark, from the antler tips down past the ears.
