Hand-Dyed & Stenciled Peace Flags: A Two-Day Workshop with Jesica Carleton of Carleton Manor Mosaics Dates: Fridays, October 16 & 23 Time: 5:30 - 7:30 PM Add a splash of color and a little positive energy to your home or garden by creating your own set of six hand-dyed, hand-stenciled Peace Flags! Over two sessions, you'll explore fabric-dyeing and stenciling techniques to design a vibrant, one-of-a-kind set of flags to hang in your garden, on a porch, in a window, or anywhere you'd like to add color and a reminder of peace. Session 1 (Oct 16): Hand-Dyeing In this fun, beginner-friendly session, you'll explore simple fabric-dyeing techniques to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind patterns on six cotton flags. Choose your own color palette and experiment with different techniques to give each flag its own personality while creating a cohesive set. Session 2 (Oct 23): Stenciling Bring your dyed flags back to take them to the next level! Choose from a variety of beautifully designed laser-cut stencils featuring patterns, symbols, and images, then use colorful fabric paints and simple stenciling techniques to personalize each one. Experiment with colors, layering, and placement to create a unique set of flags that reflects your personal style and message of peace. No experience necessary — all tools, materials, and six cotton flags are provided. WHAT YOU'LL TAKE HOME A set of six hand-dyed, hand-stenciled cotton Peace Flags, entirely your own design ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Jesica Carleton's artistic practice spans a diverse range of media, with a particular focus on mosaic art, where she continually pushes the boundaries of this traditional medium. She also explores various other forms of expression, including glass fusing, ceramics, polymer clay, and metalwork. This eclectic mix of techniques allows her to experiment with textures, colors, and forms, creating works that are as varied as they are innovative — each medium offering a new challenge and an opportunity to blend traditional methods with contemporary creativity.
