Magnolia's leathery leaves make it one of the sturdiest greens in the trade: it travels well, holds its shape, and keeps its color far longer than soft foliage — which is why we're comfortable putting it in a box and sending it across the country. Place in deep water and let the branches drink for a few hours before arranging. Change the water every three days. Kept in water and out of direct sun, magnolia holds for [X–X weeks]. To dry it Skip the water entirely. Stand the branches upright in an empty vessel or lay them flat somewhere dry, and let them go on their own — the leaves will curl and turn bronze over a couple of weeks. No hanging required.
