Ratibida columnifera --Yellow Mexican Hat--

Classic, gorgeous texas wildflower frequently seen along highways and in meadows - yellow petals drape gently down from central disc. Some people think it looks like a sombrero! Up to 3' high, blooms in clusters of thousands during the summer and fall once established. Full sun, very drought tolerant, will grow in very poor soils. Strong scent repels deer. Attracts bees and butterflies, and has historically been used as a medicinal tea.
