October Drawing Fundamentals + Clay w/ Pierpaolo Zaldaña

Class outline Bring your personal mythos to life in clay through detailed carving and surface design. In this specialized course, students will deepen their technical drawing and carving skills—exploring core techniques that translate directly to sgraffito, relief carving, and advanced surface decoration. By learning how to translate personal narrative into tactile artwork, you will walk away with a finished piece and a sharper set of skills to elevate your individual studio practice. Classes meet once a week for 2-hour sessions, with open studio time daily for you to practice on your own. Students are recommended to utilize student practice hours at least once a week in between class sessions. SLS's recycled studio clay and bisque firing for up to 10 pieces (max. size 12"x12"x12") are included in the class. Additional clay is available for purchase at our Clay + Supply Shop. For non-members, glaze firing is included in the course fee. You will need to supply your own tools: Signature All-Inclusive Tool Kit Cutting tools (X-acto or similar) Looped Carving Tools Mudtools Shredder Mini Ribbon Tools Sketchbook + Drawing Instruments We strongly advise you to make sure you’ll be able to attend all class sessions before signing up. We do not offer make-ups for this class. It is especially important that you attend the first class, so if you think you might have to miss week 1, please consider enrolling in another session or emailing us at hi@stilllifeceramics.com. Policies By enrolling in a class or workshop, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the safety instructions and liability waiver. Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before the start time of class, if you miss your class, or arrive too late to participate.
