In December 1975, President Ford signed the Metric Conversion Act, setting up a plan for the U.S. to gradually shift from the confusing Imperial System of measurement to the widely used Metric System. It was a nice idea… that went nowhere. Today, the U.S. is still hanging onto inches, pounds, and gallons while basically everyone else on Earth uses the metric system.
