Mixed Media Painting "Bloom and Scatter" is a meditation on how heritage lives in us — blooming richly, then scattering as we move through life. Living in the UAE, I have always been drawn to the ornamental beauty surrounding me — carved arches, gilded patterns, spiralling rosettes. This painting began as a desire to hold onto that beauty while accepting it transforms. I used heavy impasto technique, building sculptural layers of acrylic to create real, tactile depth. The deep burnt orange-crimson bloom on the left is carved with swirling, petal-like ridges, promising like a flower rooted in tradition. The concentric green spirals echo decorative rosettes. Then the gold — small raised bars cascading diagonally across the canvas — scatters like seeds or fragments of memory drifting outward and staying with you on your journey. I want the viewer to feel the tension between holding on and letting go. This painting is deeply personal because it mirrors my own journey — carrying pieces of home, beautifully scattered and collectively present, wherever I go. Reem H.
